ASSEMBLAGE

“Assemblage is art that is made by assembling disparate elements — often everyday objects — scavenged by the artist or bought specially." — Art Terms, Tate Britain Website

I use a crimper to get every last drop of paint from a tube. Studying an empty tube, I cut it open one day and discovered it was lined with a shiny metal. Eureka, a new material with which to play.  My studio shelves are lined with jars containing bottle tops, skeins of wool, stamps bought at auction, and construction materials retained from renovations made to my home. Any material not illegal that I can get my hands on is fodder for making my art. I consider my work akin to the German Dada artist, Kurt Schwitters who called his technique "Merz.”

ASSEMBLAGES ARE AVAILABLE AS ORIGINAL WORKS
